An introduction to 'tech for good' and digital development for funders

We're helping trusts, foundations and social investors interested in exploring some of the practical challenges, and opportunities when funding digital.

What is a Funder Design Hop?

Design Hops are a useful first step for funders interested in finding out how digital can help them respond more effectively to the needs of their grant-holders and applicants as well as in learning how some social enterprises are using digital technology to improve their resilience and impact.

If you would be interested in attending one of the workshops listed below, please RSVP to amy@wearecast.org.uk with your preferred date and we will be in touch with more details.

London Design Hop 2018

Who are they for?

In association with ACF, London Funders and the City of London, CAST is holding a series of half-day Design Hops specifically for trusts, foundations and social investors interested in exploring some of the practical challenges and opportunities when funding digital.

These practical, energetic half-day sessions are designed to demystify digital and design approaches, thereby helping Trustees and senior leadership teams increase their understanding of how best to support digital initiatives. The workshop will also include a raft of examples of how these approaches have helped funders to better support their investees and, in turn, their service users.

How does it work?

These practical, energetic half-day sessions are designed to demystify digital and design approaches, thereby helping Trustees and senior leadership teams increase their understanding of how best to support digital initiatives. The workshop will also include a raft of examples of how these approaches have helped funders to better support their investees and, in turn, their service users.

Attendees will gain:

Digital confidence

  • Understand what ‘digital’ means and how it can help the organisations that you support
  • Learn more about digital and design principles and how these approaches can support more responsive funding
  • Meet and work alongside peers who are exploring how to better fund digital

Practical support

  • Work through examples of how digital approaches have helped charities become more resilient and responsive to the needs of their service users
  • Learn simple agile techniques you can use and share with colleagues immediately
  • Understand more about how you can use data to narrow the gap between new insight and new action

GUY'S & ST. THOMAS CHARITY: "In my experience, you can approach CAST with high expectations, and have them comfortably exceeded. They are a team who deliver. I like working with CAST as they combine real digital expertise with an understanding of the dynamics of the social sector. I'd recommend them for anyone who wants to put technology and users at the heart of their work, and to see results quickly"
